Everybdoy’s Second Team
|
Story was just before my time, but a fantastic watch & only £1.99 on amazon.
On a sad note, listening to the old players taking of Upton Park, it makes you realise what we’ve lost with the move but makes it all the more apparent that we need a movement. We need to set up an alternative, a new club that respects our history. I will help lead it, but I need help - one iron is the key. But others who have an interest, all support will be welcome.

To be fair, I also felt the cartoon bits were a bit hit and miss, Peckham is bang on, but the parts with the players talking about Upton Park are worth the watch alone

Thanks Deano. Downloaded out of curiosity. Appreciate the effort the fella made with the animations, but would have loved to have seen some old footage. Alvin Martin talking about defending the one goal ´´ I would give it to Billy he would play it to x , y and z , because that is the way we were brought up, that was the habit , we could not kick it in to row Z.....´´
No double decker bus parade but a laceys single decker with heads poking out of the fan lights in the ceiling.....
Sir Trevs words to Lyall moments after relegation in 78 - I just want you to know that I want to stay at West Ham and help get the team back in the first division.
The OS move was inevitable, regardless of board but to rebrand this glorious club , the rebranding and rebadging was not needed.
Deano like JK I get your sentiments but its a far cry from Wimbledon and Milton Keynes.
We still have our history, the leagues best away support, still people like Sir Trev in the background, a few prospects in the academy. Strong U23s.
West Ham United is not the problem. West Ham London, the board , Brady and the Seating at the stadium are the problems, all resolvable unfortunately with agonising patience and tenacious loyal supporters.
Next up on Amazon - Away from Home , a documentary about final season of Boleyn and first season OS.

I get your sentiment the club doesn't feel the same but it still exists. It's nothing like the Wimbledon situation.

"How exactly does setting up a new club respect WHU’s history?"
West Ham United doesn't exist anymore, the same way that Wimbledon no longer existed when they moved to Milton Keynes.

How exactly does setting up a new club respect WHU’s history?

All I saw it as was we were most people's 2nd team because we played nice football, and mostly got hammered, therefore not a threat. "
gets repeated lot, that, about how we used to get battered - but i'm pretty sure our trophy haul during that period exceeds anything we've accomplished in the last 20 years.
and that's before i even get started on our regular and routine thrashings since we moved to the cesspit

What's this 'we' business, you scaly backed leper? You're not West Ham you slippery cunt.
Putting everything aside, I never liked that 2nd team bollocks, who wants to be that? All I saw it as was we were most people's 2nd team because we played nice football, and mostly got hammered, therefore not a threat.

Starting again is very tough. Do admire what the guys at AFC Wimbledon did, but they are a club who were non-league for most of their history. The story of FC United has stalled and we can but wonder why the Man U golden generation put their cash into Salford instead (didn't want a banning order from the 'Theatre of Dreams' perhaps). I had thought that the guys who started the Clapton ultras over at the Dotted Sprog were Hammers fans looking to recreate the magic. But that's all gone tits up. I suppose the perfect vehicle would have been to revive East Ham United (same kit, same nickname) but they folded after moving from Manor Way and merging with the original Barking FC in 2000.

I was staying in Portsmouth near Fratton Park , for work ,for a couple of months and the stadium reminded me of Upton Park before the towers

Yes but if we hadn't got the stadium for cheap our owners wouldn't be considerably richer. And that's what we all care about isn't it?
On another note, the Spurs cunts also hate their new stadium so it appears football fans just don't like change - big surprise there.

You don't realise what you have until its gone.
It pains me to say it but Spurs done it the right way demolish the old stadium and rebuild. It wouldn't be 60,000 like we have now but certainly 45,000 to 50,000 and we would still be on our manor.

Just saw the trailer. Makes me physically sick thinking about how far we have dropped as a football team. We didn't win every game, in fact we lost more than our fair share but one thing you knew was that every player who put on the shirt loved the team and the fans and never gave less than 100%. How things have changed. Whe we did lose I'd be depressed for days. Now, I couldn't give a fuck.

It is what it is mate. Watch the film. Think about what we’ve lost - the majority of us still know what being West Ham means. 20 years down the line and it’s history. The next 5-10 years are the one and only chance to keep it alive, after that it’s gone and West Ham London is what remains.

it's a nice idea starting again, but the costs could be too much without a decent sponsor/backer to help get things ticking over at the beginning. it shouldn't have got to this stage where people are that pissed off, but that's where they've taken things
